STATE COLLEGE, PA • The path to Paris runs through the Bryce Jordan Center on the campus of Penn State University this weekend and, even though the United States has struggled on the World stage with its Greco-Roman wrestling, there are some Olympic medals to be had overseas.
One of the bright spots for the US, at least with Illinois ties, is the always exciting and dynamic Kamal Bey (ARMY / WCAP) at 77kg. Bey has performed on all levels and is considered a Senior-level-Greco threat anywhere he competes. He has been on multiple age-level World teams and has a U20 World Championship gold in his collection of accomplishments.
This year, he won the Senior Pan-Am Olympic Qualifier, his first Senior Pan-Am gold, by fall, and he simply controlled the field last year on his way to a Senior National Championships and a US Open title.
