Vote for GO EARN IT Wrestler of the Week 12/10

VOTE NOW for the GO EARN IT High School Wrestler of the Week! The poll closes on Tuesday morning at 8am central time.

This week was by far the most difficult in terms of selecting the finalists. There were a lot of great nominees that had very dominant performances. In the end, we looked at the quality of the wins as the deciding factor.

And the nominees are (sorted alphabetically):

Rueben Cantu, Jr, Knoxville, 138 – Won a stacked 138-pound weight class at the PORTA Invite with 3 state qualifiers and 2 state medalists. Pinned 3x state qualifier and 2015 state runner-up Colin Davidson from Litchfield as well as state medalist Caleb Nix from Auburn in the finals in 43 seconds. Undefeated on the season.
Kendall Coleman, Sr, Mt Carmel, 145 – Ironman finalist beating Quincy Monday (Intermat’s #11 in the country) in the quarters.
DJ Hamiti, Fr, Joliet Catholic, 106 – Won the Prospect Mudge/McMorrow Invitational in dominating fashion with a pin, pin, and 15-0 tech fall against 3A 6th ranked Isaiah Tapia of Moline.
Reece Heller, Jr, Marian Catholic, 132 – Bumped up to 138 to wrestle Dominick Ambrose, who is ranked 4th in 3A, and beat him 12-4. Then got 2 pins the next day at a quad.
Trey Hild, Sr, PORTA, 138 – The 3x state runner-up won the Rex Avery PORTA Invite for the 4th straight year with a fall, tech fall, and major.
Joey Melendez, Sr, Montini, 120 – Ironman finalist at 120 defeating Julian Tagg (Intermat’s #6 in the country) in the semis.
Josh Ramos, Jr, Providence Catholic, 145 – Went 3-0 at the OPRF mega duals beating Blaize Punke of Washington. Undefeated on the season.
Real Woods, Sr, Montini, 132 – Ironman finalist at 132 giving Intermat’s #1 Joey Silva all he could handle in the finals.
